The definition of “if you fight, I fight”. Magoo. My first real tough lesson in rescue. Magoo came to us at just a matter of weeks old, from a loving family who wanted to find a sanctuary to place him in considering his disabilities. Magoo was born with contracted front tendons.. and at one point his health took a nose dive and he had to be hospitalized. I’ll never forget flying to the hospital with him in my lap barely breathing. I could barely breathe I was crying so bad, I couldn’t see the road. When Magoo was admitted, his odds didn’t look favorable and every day was touch and go. So everyday, I went to the hospital and took naps in his stall with him. I’d bring him stuffed animals and he snuggle in them and watch himself in his fun mirror. When Magoo was able to come home, he would spend weekends at my parent’s house when I’d be at work.. so he had constant supervision and playtime. My dad- despite his own disabilities, would walk Magoo around in their backyard in our old wagon. Magoo would romp with their doggies and then after work I’d pick him up and we’d snuggle the whole car ride home. Magoo has paved the way for many of our kids and taught me how to communicate with them and advocate for them. This is a gift I had long pushed down.. as my own self resentments surfaced. I listened to the few negative voices over the years instead of the thousands of positive ones. I forgot really who I was and how blessed I am to have the gifts I do. When Sarah from @roamtherange.co was here a couple weeks ago, she photographed me with not just the horses, but all my kids (minus the moo cows cause they weren’t in the moood). Every time she showed me pictures on her camera.. it felt like a piece of my memory came back. Like I was finally recognizing myself again.. the real me. Not the me that I conjured up in my mind. This is me. This is us. This is HHHH. All of us here. A farm sanctuary- with a draft horse focus. I am so proud of what we all created here and I know we are just getting started ❤️. : . Our next open house with be December 6th from 2-5 :) I’ll share more as the date approaches but I figured I’d throw it out here now so we can plan. ❤️ #farm
