I've never heard this before. Always thought it was about Christopher Columbus. That's what I always learned.

This is the second time I’ve heard this, but of course when you go to look it up there’s nothing about this.

i’m sorry, this is confusing to me. I understand what you’re saying…but was there a Columbus involved in this story somewhere ? Because i’m not getting the connection…being taught that it was about Christopher Columbus…are you saying it was never about Christopher Columbus? Ever?? Cause 🤯🤯

Nobody ever talks about us Italians! I share heritage from both sides so I get both ideas. However, it has long been recognized as an Italian holiday and the history of Italians here are never spoken about. 💪🏻🇮🇹

My daughter had to write a paper about her heritage and she wrote about the David Hennessy killings.

I think too many people don't understand the reason behind Columbus Day (I know I didn't ) and they're just looking at the name itself. We all know Christopher Columbus did atrocious things and he's problematic. but calling it indigenous people's day completely erases the original purpose of the holiday. maybe it needs a rename... with something that signals what it's really about

as a native.. I thought changing thr name was stupid & I had no clue about the origins of the holiday, I just thought it was hilarious to "indian give" a holiday 🤣

If it has nothing to do with Christopher Columbus then why call it Columbus Day. It’s almost like calling it Mussolini day
