I am thankful for being neglected as a child with a sibling and parent as masterful bullies — learned quick that disengaging, ignoring, was the only effective remedy. RIP the trauma, but in my own power now! 🙂

Excellent advice. I recently had someone being difficult in regards to content I created. I let them know that the more they argued with me, the more the algorithm shared my content. That person got quiet really quick. And what they don't know is I muted their feed almost a decade ago.

That’s why it’s good to ask questions not condescending question mind you. And just get to know more about their idea. Find the flaws find the counter arguments and don’t come at it as a “you are dumb for thinking this,” but help them come to their own conclusion that they’re thinking is flawed. May not work on the first try.

*on the internet. Talk to people you disagree with in real life. Thats how change happens. Not yelling and screaming but actually talking and trying to see their point of view. Berating someone you disagree with, further strengthens their idea that you are the enemy. Listening to them helps them realize that maybe their beliefs are not as solid as they thought. Documentary on YT called White Right: Meeting the Enemy is a great example of this.

Now, I am going to engage in exactly what you’re talking about. However, the difference is that I actually believe I can have a discussion with you. I respect this opinion and I do not disagree that when it comes to negative people being negative for the sake of just being negative: the best thing to do is ignore them. However, as another comment or put it, people having this privileged (and I do mean privileged) perspective on ignoring harmful rhetoric tends to allow that harmful rhetoric to grow because no one sees any opposition to it.
