I miss those days where I still lived with family (parents) and help them with paying some bills or groceries or whatever it is and still get to save some money. If it wasn't for Thrift Savings Plan (TSP) which is equivalent to 401K I would be able to save.

average income means nothing. median income is what matters adjusted for cost of living and purchasing power. after taxes. healthcare, loans etc

I am astonished at how long you lived with family. My mom is the exact opposite. Wanted me out basically at college age. Gives me a hard time everytime I need her, and expects me to take care of her in old age. Not doing that to my kids. 👏👏👏
