I disagree completely. The fundamental goal of conservatives has always been to maintain and expand the social and economic power of the elites within a society. "Conservatism" as a political ideology was invented to protect aristocrats from the rise of democracy. Everything else has been in service of that goal: They resist change to prevent the rise of equality; They champion "freedom" to protect the elites' ability to oppress; They value "free market" economics to allow elites to have more influence in the economy. Remember: if we vote with our dollars, people with more dollars get more votes. Within that context, MAGA is clearly conservative, as it exists to protect and rebuild the privilege of "whites".

I would agree that MAGA ≠ conservative but almost none of the rest of this has any basis in reality. Most Republicans absolutely still take immense pride in being the party to end slavery & still champion the idea that people should be judged on their actions/character rather than color/gender/sexuality/etc.

Pretty sure it’s the LEFT that’s going back on all the historical land sites, high schools and street names that are being destroyed by the act of renaming it. Example. In Marin County why rename things that were named after SirFrancisDrake? Because people may be offended hearing the “history”? This country is not built on a cute happy go lucky story.
