Remember slow and steady wines the race , try keep some electrolytes handy and just take small sips of water so you will stay hydrated but also won’t need to go to the toilet lol x

You do what your body allows you. Im confident you can get through this. Dont stress about them closing early. You could listen to music or record a track with your family cheering you on. Start off at a steady pace and at the end push it. Drink lots of water and electrolytes. Wear comfortable clothing and good sneakers. YOU GOT THIS AND I BELIEVE IN YOU!

Hydrate, music, stay positive, walk when you need to. My first 5k at 300 lbs I had to walk most of it. Fast forward one year and a 5k each month and I was running the whole thing in 30 min. You’ve got this.

A 5k is 3.1 miles. You should have plenty of time if you have 3 hours, even if you walk the whole course. I couldn’t eat before a race, but that’s up to you. They should have water and energy snacks stations. They should have porta-potty stations. My first race I was so excited I wanted to see everything and positioned myself up front. Don’t do that!! The pace is too fast. Half to three quarters back is best. Your first race is a learning experience. Have fun!

you're amazing. My only thing that people haven't said is maybe try to get a nice tight sports bra to keep the girls UP and supported!!! Mine can feel HEAVY.

maybe an audiobook to tune out the rest of the people and just be you, yourself and the book. you could alternate walking and running and it won't really matter how long you take , you have been on this journey for a loooooong time and this is just a step , just another day . 💯💯

Don’t be afraid to walk sometimes. A walk-run alternation is a totally legit way to complete races. You are strong and capable! Enjoy the energetic buzz of the race

Can you check out the course beforehand? Seeing the route can ease your nerves since you can know what might be challenging along the way. Try and rest as much the night before and do your best to stretch so you’re feeling your best. Also keep your playlist ready to go so you can have the motivation if you need it! Walking is totally fine and try to do it in the middle so you finish strong across the finish line! It’s an amazing feeling and I’m cheering you on from this tiny screen!!!

Slow is still going forward so take it slow and steady. Walk every so often to keep your heart rate steady and save energy… you’re racing against yourself not anyone else. The last person who crosses the finish line STILL CROSSES THE FINISH LINE. I have been exactly where you are and it took me about 55 minutes and I didn’t run (I power walked ). I’m can’t wait to see you cross the line 💕

GO AT UR OWN PACE, no matter how slow or fast you are,go at ur comfortable speed. Even if they close down on you, I doesn’t matter, what matters is how committed you are and the training you’ve put into this. Even if your last, at least you tried ❤️❤️I’m so incredibly proud of you!! You’ve come so far! And I believe you sorry if this doesn’t really help but me and so many other are so so so proud!!

It is such a mental sport, you have the physical ability to do it all u have to do is fully believe in ur training and that you have prepared for this! When u feel like u can’t make it look at ur mileage and realize that even if u only went half a mile u only have 5 more of those, it sounds weird but it works

Don't be afraid to walk. Enjoy the moment and people but also have head phones in case you get overstimulated and need a distraction to push you through. Have a good audiobook, Playlist or motivational podcast ready to listen to. I typically couldn't eat but drink water.

It’s your race your not doing it for anyone but yourself either way if you make it to the end or don’t witch I know you will cuz you’re amazing, you did your best a year ago you wouldn’t have even signed up and look at you now you are so beautiful and funny and smart and we are all proud of you

I’m 37 and I swim every week. I tried once to do a 5km and I had to walk once or twice in the middle 😅 Do it at your own pace and just enjoy the process. Walk all you want and don’t reach the point when something start to hurt.

Water AND Gatorade! You need to balance those electrolytes and water because when you sweat you’re losing your electrolytes so it’s important to keep them up! About the bathroom issue don’t worry about it, you’ll usually forget about it during the race but just remember to go right before!

it’s ok to walk if you feel you need to. my moms been running her whole life and my first half marathon is in 3 weeks. someone told me to remember that race day is the day you just get your medal, you’ve already done the work race day is just another day. that thought process helped me calm my mind a lot!! have fun and good luck🫶
