its not the approach, the hello, the compliment. while being disturbed in public is genuinely annoying, it's not that. we're on guard, and it's not easy to shift from that. and most don't want to. they want to do thier chore or hang out with thier company uninterrupted. so watch for the signs.. ear buds, zero eye contact, focused on stunting like reading or thier phone... all 🛑. a smile, some eye contact, maybe even just an outgoing vibe... approach, compliment, pass number/social, leave. the second you apply pressure for a response, the heavier the guard goes up. she rude? just walk away, don't comment or call it the rude. it's not about you regardless of your intentions. she deal with this all the time. and it's rarely safe.

Agreed! It’s all about how the approach goes. Giving someone your number and then leaving/not expecting anything back in the moment is definitely a good move. Just don’t ask for THEIR number cause no one wants to give their number to a random man.

I love it when someone says hello or compliments me or just strikes up a conversation! I’m super friendly but never really know what to say first sometimes. I usually begin with a compliment about what someone is wearing. “ hey I love that saying on your shirt” etc

Yes to this! It’s not creepy or weird IF there’s a vibe first. Don’t approach out of nowhere, you want eye contact, a smile, openness for a conversation and then say hi. Skip the compliments, start some normal small talk and if it feels right, exchange numbers. Worst case, you talk to a stranger about snacks and move on with your day
