@hydroxide: The new Consumer Reports study on protein powder reminded me of this. #foodscience #foodscientist #prop65 #heavymetals #lead #leadfree #proteinpowder #supplements
NO AMOUNT OF LEAD IS GOOD. having stricter testing is not a bad thing. California is doing it right

Ensure is used in hospitals… for people who can’t eat solids… how is that not tested properly?!

There is no safe level of lead. All lead is detrimental.

I appreciate prop 65 honestly. While I won't freak out and throw away my current tub of protein powder it's enough for me to consider a different protein powder next time

It's the vegan ones. The ones made out of plant proteins

I think it's irresponsible to dismiss California prop 65 just because it's strict. the FDA allows a lot of unsafe products and chemicals in our foods currently and I personally appreciate prop 65 for allowing us to at least try and make better choices since the FDA isn't strict enough

ANY CHOCOLATE. For 23 of the bars, eating just an ounce a day would put an adult over a level that public health authorities and CR’s experts say may be harmful for at least one of those heavy metals. Five of the bars were above those levels for both cadmium and lead. Read more about how CR tested dark chocolate

I am fully baffled as to how all these "no amount of lead is safe" people are alive? There is no way to avoid lead entirely. We can reduce it but it's pretty much impossible to stop it from entering the food supply entirely.

So are there any lactose free protein powders? I absolutely hate being lactose intolerant, and lactate pills don’t really help. I miss chocolate milk so much.
