@allseatedinabarn4: They laughed and called him a camel… he was a joke to the horse traders who brought him to the auction. I yelled at them and told them they were fcuked up.. I was so mad. Truthfully at the time I thought we were going to have to put him down. I had NEVER seen anything like that in my life and thought that it was a recent very horrible tragic injury. You see, Traveler’s back was visibly deformed when he came through the sale. The x-rays showed he’d been stepped on as a foal, fracturing his spine and ribcage. Somehow… it never severed his spinal cord. He had lived like that for so long that it fused, and he wasn’t in pain. So we gave him a chance.. Fast-forward two and a half years, and Traveler is unrecognizable. He loves his walks, his arena time, and his butt scratches (he backs up for them every time). None of this would’ve been possible without our volunteer Wendy, who has poured her entire heart into him. This is rescue. This is rehabilitation.
