I actually don't align with it. Mainly with the religion aspect. My mom is also amazing, despite AA. I think she actually gives too much of her life to it. I don't think she could extricate herself at all. Unfortunately, my dad now has the start of dementia and can't remember how abusive he has been. I think there are probably better treatments for addiction, honestly.

currently in AA rn (step 5) been sober the past 4 months for the first time in 5 years and honestly I've always had an iffy feeling of some of the teachings ngl
