TsukiNoHime :
I think the only real fundamental disagreement I have with a lot of modern Christian theology is in the existence of hell. I don’t think any crime — besides, perhaps, the killing of the soul [which is an impossible act for a human anyhow] — is truly ‘infinite’ in scope, and thusly, it cannot deserve an ‘infinite’ punishment in length or time. Crimes can deserve a billion billion billion years of punishment, or perhaps an amount that nears what one could conceive of as ‘infinite’, but no crime other than that singular infinite destruction would deserve an infinite punishment. I suppose that it’s not really ‘disbelief in hell’ but more ‘disbelief in the permanence of hell’ — one may commit crimes, yes, but God in their mercy and forgiveness would not allow one of their creations to suffer infinitely for that finite moral wrongdoing. ———Oh, and if one wonders where I do fall religiously, I generally consider myself a ‘theist’. God is absolute and singular, and god is certain to exist and omnipotent in their existence, but I do not feel as if any doctrine or script truly confines the idea of ‘god’ — all are fundamentally untrustable due to being written by human hand, human pen, even if they were truly inspired by one of God’s messengers there is near certainty of misinterpretation of even blatant falsities created by the inherently flawed and imperfect human mind.
