there is a paragraph in the article where they’re like “we actually don’t think you need to worry about this much” and when i got there i was like why are you baiting everyone to be terrorized by this then

Thank you! Read the article myself and saw SO many errors and mistakes within. I was borderline shocked by it tbh

California’s maximum allowable dose level is 0.5 ųg/day, while the FDA limit for children is 2.2 ųg/day. That looks roughly 4x as strict. Where does the “1000x lower” come from?

There’s no safe level of lead exposure. Even very small amounts can be harmful. That’s why most public health agencies say the goal should be to reduce exposure to as close to zero as possible.

Didn’t they do research into lead safety margins, and found out there is NO amount of lead that is safe? Saying that “prop 65” is the issue, and pointing to lead content in vegetables possibly isn’t the “good argument” you think it is. It should rather be “we need to make our vegetables safer” 😅

Thank you for grounding the conversation on the lead in protein powder, I actually got concerned due to the FDA layoffs and the sudden headliner actually concerned me.

this is a very lucid rationalization. It's like when they say there's no safe level of Radon exposure in your basement. true, but just walking around outside on flat ground, you have nominal radon exposure.
