@cookingbomb: Thirteen years ago my water broke at 31 weeks.
I was terrified, honestly I thought I was not ready.
But they were ready. At 32 weeks my two tiny warriors came into the world, 4 pounds and 3.8 pounds.
So small I could hold them both in one arm, but so strong they surprised everyone. From the NICU machine beeping all day and night,
to wearing princess tiaras and believing they were Elsa,
from talking to each other in their secret "ah ah ya ye" language for two years
(I still don’t know what they were saying),
And now standing beside me in Qi Pao dresses looking so grown up I could cry. My miracle baby girls are officially teenagers now.
Time goes so fast, but some moments stay in my heart forever.
The first time I held them, the first cry, the first time they said "妈妈 (Mā Ma)."
I only spoke Chinese to them since they were babies, so I made sure they said it the Chinese way first:) Those early days were hard.
Recovery, sleepless nights, and breastfeeding two premature babies with tiny mouths.
It was painful and exhausting, but I did it for eight months.
I used the healing recipes passed down from my grandma and my mom to help my body recover and make more milk. That is why I included those recipes in my new cookbook Traditional Chinese Wellness Recipes.
