I'm tired of me having to cause suffering to a patient that deserves a peaceful passing because of the choices of a family who is in denial.

Graphically explaining to my mom what resuscitation would be like for my 91 yo dad was hard for her, but convinced her to change his status (he had dementia and was unable to make the decision). Rough, but necessary.

Love this. From one nurse to another, thank you.

Agatha Mystery :
I had a client in her 80's who didn't want a DNR because she thought a god would heal her back to perfect health afterwards. Fortunately, her daughter had one for her. She died of a brain bleed after a fall.

Also, I was in an ER and shocked back to life. I'm grateful for that.

🇨🇦The Patients Perspective :
Always told myself that at some point I’ll put DNR on my file. But I heard many of the times it isn’t followed anyways. I don’t want to suffer in the end. Ive suffered enough when alive.
