@afriheadlines: Carney to ACCEPT China's Bold Offer After Trump's OPEN THREAT Donald Trump's Commerce Secretary, Howard Lutnick, has ignited controversy by declaring it will always be "America's auto industry first," signaling a renewed push to pull vehicle manufacturing south of the border. Meanwhile, China's Ambassador to Canada has issued a bold challenge - Beijing is willing to lift tariffs on Canadian canola if Ottawa removes its 100% tariff on Chinese EVs. Former NDP leader Tom Mulcair warns that Canada may have fallen into a U.S.-made trap, mirroring Washington's trade playbook at the expense of its own industries. Why doesn't Canada built their own line of cars for Canadians. Yes it could take a while, but the end result will would be 100% positive.

Looking forward to lower vehicle prices in Canada with China. This will benefit all Canadian auto drivers, will never buy a USA made auto again.

Canada should prioritize its own interests by sourcing cheaper, better vehicles from China instead of being forced to buy expensive American-made EVs. Canada's resources should directly benefit Canadians, and should be sold at a discount to the usa. 👏

We don’t drive them. Besides pick ups we buy everything but the “big 3”. Start looking for cars made in Canada like Honda and Toyota. We need to divest and keep it that way. We don’t need the states

Canada instead of just agreeing to import Chinese EVs, the deal should insist that China manufacture their EVs in Canada with parts that can be sourced in Canada and only import parts that can't be found in Canada. So setting up car factories in Canada should be a must as part of the deal

We can't go the China way (100% anyways). Lifting all tariffs on the EVs will decimate the plants we have/are currently building. We can't go the US way either.... it's not a threat, it's a statement about what they will do so there is nothing to do but work around. It will be somewhere half way with China. That's the only option.

They buy our farmers' crops, we let them sell their EV's here at a lower price. That's a good deal.

Toyota and Honda both manufacture here in Canada. We have other brands of cars we can buy. If they want to manufacture their cars solely, they can purchase them solely.

Well alot of Americans major manufacturers have been leaving the United States anyway. So it might push more out due to the tariffs. Because the cost of building the vehicles is cutting into profits n raising costs to the consumer
