The color must come from the onion used My mom always used regular old onions and she never strained them we always had to eat the boiled onions along with drinking our onion water with a little bit of sugar I am now allergic to onions but I never f****** got sick when I was a kid every time my sister would get the sniffles I had to drink onion juice she got to miss a day of school I got to keep going
