@realtoremilymcallister: šŸ“ˆ Greenville’s Growth Story: A CSA Shift That Matters šŸŒ† Did you know Greenville is officially part of a Combined Statistical Area (CSA) with Washington, NC — but until 2023, it also included Kinston. The ripple effects matter for the region’s economic momentum. šŸ” What changed in 2023? In July 2023, the Office of Management and Budget published OMB Bulletin No. 23-01, which revised the delineations of metropolitan, micropolitan, and combined statistical areas across the country. As part of those revisions, the Kinston micropolitan area was removed from Greenville’s CSA, leaving only Greenville (Pitt County) and Washington (Beaufort County) in the combined area. The official Greenville–Washington CSA now comprises only those two counties. šŸ“‰ How this change can hurt Greenville’s growth prospects Because statistical area designations are used in many federal, state, and private sector analyses, losing Kinston from the CSA has real consequences: • Smaller ā€œofficialā€ footprint: With fewer counties included, Greenville’s CSA becomes a smaller statistical region. That weaker regional ā€œbrandā€ can reduce Greenville’s competitiveness when it comes to attracting large employers, regional headquarters, or grant funding — many decision-makers look at CSA or MSA size as a proxy for market reach. • Reduced data weight in metrics: Economic, labor, and demographic metrics for the CSA now cover fewer people and fewer economies. That may lead to less attention from state or federal programs that prioritize larger or expanding CSAs. • Grant and funding disadvantage: Some infrastructure grants, federal programs, or regional development funds use CSA definitions (or population thresholds tied to CSAs) when allocating resources. A smaller CSA could make Greenville less eligible or less competitive. āž”ļø If you care about Greenville’s future — growth, jobs, infrastructure — hit ā¤ļø and share this with someone who should know how these ā€œbehind-the-scenesā€ changes can shift a city’s trajectory. #GreenvilleNC #EasternNC #RegionalGrowth #EconomicDevelopment #CSA

I feel like the hospital makes it more crowded in Greenville because I know every time someone I goes there, there’s at least five people that show up for that person I’ve seen as many as 65 people show up for one person that makes it a little more busy. Think of how big the hospital is plus you have all the college students and all of their friends visiting from out of town and family visiting from out of town plus the normal people that just live there

Is this why we only have car washes, vape stores, ABC stores and little else? They literally just built a Pitt ABC store within walking distance of one at the intersection of Firetower and Arlington.

Question, some years back, Kinston, Goldsboro, Greenville, and Wilson was starting to work together (started with improving 587,795,70 or 42, and 11) and was gonna call itself the "Quad East" whatever happened to that?

I lead a veteran organization in Greenville and absolutely love how inviting and helpful the folks are! But definitely hard when most businesses only care to help if we are directly involved with the college or minorities.

Good luck. Greenville is east of I95 which means Greenville is the bastard child of state along with every other community east of 95. The poverty section of the state. I remember when Martin was governor and they laughed at ENC because they made 43 HWY a super 2 lane during an election year and played it up as progress.
