This one is easy. They have 2 sizes of hot cup because they mostly sell coffee. They only have one size of the cold drink cups. Hot cups are more expensive, but hot drinkers buy more baked goods, so the profit offsets the higher expense. Putting the cold drink in a hot cup increases your expenses without increasing add-on sales.

Its probably because of the cups they use. I assume they only have certain sized hot cups and same with cold style cups.
