@usafacts.org: Your kindergarten teacher may have made a similar salary to your high school teacher! 🍎✏️ #teachertok #teachersontiktok #fyp #funfact #facts
There's no pay difference by grade or content. I'm not sure why that's surprising.

Elementary teachers teach every subject every day. They definitely need to make more money.

What's worse? PE teachers make the same as chemistry educators. Education funding is not values or return based. if this were the case, pre k and kindergarten teachers should make more than any other

Do you think they should be paid less? 🤔

makes sense to me. probably a similar level of difficulty teaching something complex to more established students and introducing simple concepts to new students

I mean I'm not surprised they both have to teach every day. each has their ups and downs. at the end of the day all of them are severely underpaid and over criticized.

Teaching children how to read (aka teaching ABCs) is crucial for every other subject and life. Kindergarten teachers also teach number sense the foundation for understanding advance math and science.

We know this data can spark conversation and that’s the goal! We’re not comparing teachers to each other, but showing what the national data says across grade levels. Every teacher’s work matters, and we want to make sure the facts are accessible to everyone.
We’re constantly learning and improving how we present information, and your feedback helps us do that. Thank you!

We definitely need to pay our teachers more, and I'm not just saying that because my husband is a high school teacher! It's not an easy job across the board, and they do sooooo much more than just teach.

The more surprising thing is that PE teachers, art teachers, and other “specials” teachers are paid the same as classroom teachers, despite having vastly different expectations and responsibilities, ie no parent teacher conferences, virtually no parent emails, no IEP/504 meetings and very little responsibility to uphold iep/504 accommodations, depending on the disabilities of course, very little responsibility to meet any district goals…

We're hired by the district. We have the same job title. We have the same salary schedule. It shouldn't be surprising to anyone who knows anything about the ways public schools are run. This video seems disingenuous.
