my biggest issue with the female custodes when they tried to push them was their response. "oh there have ALWAYS been women." it reeked of the same level of bad writing as "somehow Palpatine returned"

I feel the same. retconning custodes to add women was fine and understandable. trying to do the same for spacemarines feels lazy, they should bring back the (hinted at) primarch being kept in the vaults of terra as a woman primarch with some kind of explanation along the lines of 'women space marines had a severe genetic flaw but thats fixed now' and that would be perfect and stays in line with lore
