Google: A horse spinning repeatedly and twitching can be caused by neurological issues like equine protozoal myeloencephalitis (EPM) or West Nile virus, which affect balance and coordination, or by severe environmental stress, anxiety, or pain. Other causes include vestibular problems, severe dental issues, and physical pain, so a prompt veterinary exam is crucial for diagnosis and treatment.

It definitely sounds like EPM. If you’ve caught it early enough, it’s treatable, but relapse is definitely an issue. However his age may play a big part. Prayers for Freddy’s recovery and prayers for the you and the family!🙏🏼♥

Why are people saying to call a vet...Don't you think he knows that??? Vets can't always drop everything to get there in 10 minutes...Why not ask the internet until a vet can get there? I learn more on TT than anywhere else. Prayers for Freddy!🙏

EPM is high on the list but if you can get some blood work done with a vet it could also be anaplasmosis that can be pretty easily treated. West Nile virus is another thing to worry about and that would just be supportive care and see if he can come out of it. All of these illnesses will unfortunately require a vet for treatment. Good luck!

check for ear infection. I've seen horses misdiagnosed with EPM and it was inner ear infection (majority of horses around us will test positive for epm, but majority doesn't affect)

With him being a senior, it could be any number of neurological issues. A vet will know best. The good news is that he likely doesn’t feel any pain. His body just isn’t working like it should.

Oh sweet Freddy 💜 I would Def check in with the Vet. Given his age and symptoms, I'm guessing it's more medical vs him getting into something. Is it possible he has late stages of Lymes? Regardless of what's going on meeping you all in my thoughts.

poor baby, I would move him closer to the house so you can keep an eye on him....could be just old age could be stroke but unfortunately the vet would be your best option when he can get there....I hope someone has some advice
