@distilledscience: Green light produces antinociception by activating glutamatergic neurons in vLGN, and red light promotes nociception by activating GABAergic neurons in the ventral lateral geniculate body (vLGN) This works with normal LED strips you can get online! Just set them to pure green and relax :) Note: The newer human trial was less rigorous, but involved 698 participants who were classified as “responders” or “non responders.” Headache improved in 55% of all 3,232 attacks, in 82% of the 1,803 attacks treated by responders, and in 21% of the 1,429 attacks treated by non-responders. 📚 Studies Referenced: doi: 10.1177/0333102420956711 doi: 10.3389/fneur.2023.1282236 doi: 10.1093/pm/pnaa329 doi: 10.1016/j.nbd.2023.106164 doi: 10.2147/PRBM.S388042 DOI: 10.1126/scitranslmed.abq6474 #Science #headaches #migraines

I studied Chinese medicine in Switzerland, where it's integrated in the medical system and paid for by all insurances. We learned that green light will do this and the effect is the same as being outside in a park or a forest for an hour. We're wired so the greenery around us will relax our nervous system and act anti inflammatory. Red will do the opposite and rooms that contain even just red accents and walls can cause increased migraine episodes. Pure white light is considered harsh and is only for hospitals or medical facilities. Our most natural lights are green and warm yellow (as nature outside and fire or candles inside). They help diminish anxiety n inflammation quite a bit.

What initially made them test green light specifically? 🤔

The original has also been debunked, massive conflict of interest as the funder sells green lights for migraine sufferers. And we already knew that reducing blue light helps with migraines.

But this makes no sense for people who become photophobic to light when having a migraine. For me it doesn’t matter what colour the light is! 🫤

It's a very specific band of green light and you can buy lamps with the specific band of light

Does this also work if the subject is asleep? Like what if at night you turn off all lights and sleep in a neon lit room. Will the low but slow exposure through closed eyelids still work?

I went to a green light clinic for awhile. It didn't help my migraines, however, I ended up getting one for my house because it is the best light for when you already have a migraine. Compared to other lights, it instantly takes the pressure off your eyes.

Ok… so how are ppl counting their migraines? Bc 8/mo sounds chronic to me? I have migraines but count it as once or twice per month but it lasts 5-7days each time. Am I supposed to divide that up by days? Even though it’s the same event? My dr keeps saying I’m not chronic even tho I’m in migraine for 50% + of the month… makes zero sense.

Does the hue of the green matter? I have smart lamps that I could set to green, but is that the right green? 🤔

Would spending an hour in a forest under a sunlit green tree canopy each day do the same thing. 🤔

is there a specific range of wavelengths that is most effective? could there be similar effects being in green natural spaces like a forest?
