They showed up with a furniture elevator on a truck, extended a ladder to a second-floor window, smashed it with an angle grinder, broke two display cases, and escaped on motorcycles. The stolen items include a tiara, necklace, and earrings once worn by French empresses Marie-Louise and Eugénie. One piece, the crown of Empress Eugénie (featuring 1,354 diamonds and 56 emeralds), was dropped during the escape and recovered damaged. French authorities are calling it "a major, highly organized operation." The only difference? Lupin wouldn't have dropped the crown.
