@ionic363: When people also do caste, clan, tribes, or even ethnic exclusion in a foreign country especially too. Those principles aren’t held to the same regard there. You shouldn’t be doing that to begin with but doing that in a foreign country you immigrated to shows just how integrated that type of thinking is. And it’s really jarring. Applying foreign principles while being a foreigner is pretty ironic. #politics #religion #islam #christianity #immigration
This 💯. Like, if you don’t like our liberal western attitudes, do not come. Go somewhere with Sharia or something.

paradox of tolerance. You can't tolerate the intolerant or else the whole space will become intolerant.

Like women have to cover themselves in muslim countries and its okay because its the culture and we have to respect it, but when it comes to banning burqa and niqab in Europe it’s against human rights

i genuinely agree with this entirely but why are we acting like misogyny, homophobia nd racism ect aren’t present in these ‘liberal’ western countries? These aren’t the faults of immigrants

they think the West should adapt to them, but when I bring up the fact that some countries would punish me for not covering my hair/face, they pull up with "but it's their culture"... what a good use of democracy huh 😂

i’ve always compared it to moving to someone’s house, rearranging the furniture because YOU don’t like it and being bothered when the owner of the house doesn’t tolerate it…💀

Agree but the thing is homophobia , Misogny , racism , discrimination still do exist in western liberal countries the problem isn’t with immigrants but the universal systems that dominate our societies such as patriarchy or capitalism

As someone on the left I completely agree, integration is important, thats why norway as example have classes for social intergration. Its important to emphasize integration while not turning it into xenophobia

this. i was born in a muslim country as a native english. i couldn’t assimilate fully as i don’t identify with their religion and views, so i moved back home. yet when i moved back home, im only to find that the very culture i left is in my home and trying to change it to fit their ideals. how can i escape?

I agree, but i would rather use “integrate” than “assimilate”. You dont have to share the same values with people but you have to respect the place you live in.
