I can’t dance, I don’t listen to Spanish music ( maybe some pop songs here and there). I still feel like there is a wall between me and other Mexican people. It’s like I’m not part of it. I’m the oddball. When I was in high school I would constantly hear that I’m not Mexican or that I don’t act or speak like one either.

my grandparents told me how it was growing up. Having to heat up water on the stove for my dad and his siblings to bathe. Them being so poor surviving off of beans and rice. All the struggles they went through that thankfully I never had to go through. But I think that’s the reason they don’t take mental health seriously (at least in my case). Bc in their minds they’re like seriously you’re sad for what… we’re the ones that had to go through xyz meanwhile you guys have it easy. I was taught to never complain because other kids have it worse than I do and ever since I’ve been raw dogging mental illness 😁

youre not a poser. youre mexican and have your own interests. there's other nerdy Mexicans out there. but if it helps, maybe learn more about the history and why certain core values are more prominent in our culture. decolonize your mind if you havent already.

i’m not mexican, but im a black caribbean and i feel the exact same way. to this day it feels so weird to be in a room with other caribbeans cause the difference is just so stark, i can just never relate and it makes me feel so left out
