So you’ll factor in 7 minutes at the pump, but not the 30 seconds 2x a day to connect/disconnect your wall charger. Walk there, get the cord, maybe unravel it, then plug it in. Then reverse in the morning. That just added 4 extra hours a year, and I’m being generous.

7 hours over a whole year vs 7 hours over 1 road trip is a massive change in experience lmao. And nobody is actually complaining about stopping at a gas station for 10 minutes every 300-500 miles to get a snack or go to the bathroom

The time it takes to fill up a RAV4 is between 1.45 and 1.8125 minutes. If you get a fast pump could be as low as .4677 minutes

Your conclusion is false. I don’t need to refill my gas vehicle every night. Your power point at home is a charging stations so you need to add the 8-12 HOURS a night to your 6hrs 56minutes.

I can fill up my F-350 diesel in about 90 seconds. Yes, 30+ gallons in less than two minutes which gets me 600 miles on the Interstate. Can any EV do that?

EV owner here. 33k per year is a wild number. 15k seems more reasonable. However, most people don’t make 1500 mile road trips every year either.

You’re not including the time it takes you to plug and unplug your car every single time you get home and/or. It’s not a lot of time but it adds up. Even if you’re generous and say it’s 15 seconds, that’s 15x2x7 for 3.5min/week. My car takes 9 gallons and I only fill up every 3 weeks or so.

36 gal tank.. I can go 500mi and fill up at a 1/4 tank, takes 6 min to fill.. I’ll stick with my full size Super Crew truck.. if I fill up 2x a week it’s only 11hrs total at the pump for the year.. I’m ok with that..and I don’t have to worry about any cold weather issue associated with an EV.. but to each there own…

20 year old EVs will be only able to travel half the original distance or less on a charge due to battery degradation. 30 year old EVs are going to cost more to dispose of than they are worth. Replacing to batteries is not a reasonable option yet.

you failed to mention the time it takes to plug in and un plug your car everyday. 1 to 5 minutes per time x 2 times a day x 365 day. Plus the wait at the charging station for a charger to open up.

So, for your theory to be fair, you'd have to count time spent at home charging as well as time spent charging on the road.
