Imam Al-Mayyarah says in his Sharh of Ibn Ashir
Salah is one of the greatest and noblest physical acts of worship. Allah has combined in it for the children of Adam the actions of all the angels, such as standing, bowing, prostrating, remembering Allah, reciting, seeking forgiveness, and praying for the Prophet. It also involves important types of actions for humans, as it requires spending money to cover one's private parts and purify oneself with water, which is akin to zakat. It includes abstaining from the two pure things (food and drink) similar to fasting, and staying in a specific place, which is similar to i'tikaf (seclusion for worship). Facing the Kaaba is similar to the pilgrimage, struggling against the self to ward off Shaytan is akin to jihad, and remembering Allah and His Messenger.
