@andy_highlander: Today is Diwali, “the Festival of Lights” So, I thought it would be the perfect time to re-share this video! My friend Harvinder and I explore two beautiful traditions: the Scottish Great kilt and the Sari, each is one long piece of fabric with rich cultural heritage and worn with pride and meaning. Diwali is celebrated by over a billion people worldwide across Hindu, Sikh, Jain and Buddhist communities. Diwali marks the triumph of light over darkness, knowledge over ignorance and good over evil. To all my friends, followers and strangers across the globe who are celebrating today, enjoy your celebrations and may your traditions be honoured and kept alive! #Diwali #Scotland #sari #andythehighlander #culture

A beautiful woman carefully and artfully draping her sari and a rugged Scotsman on the ground wrestling his kilt. A beautiful nod to both cultures! Lol

Question- If it’s cold do you just lengthen the kilts fold?

My music teacher was Scottish. Once she showed us how to wrap her (idk what it was called, but it was tartan bit a ladies way.) She told us she couldn't show or put on a kilt cuz she was a lady. We talked her into bring him in one day and his tartan laid out was longer than our music room. It wasn't music but these lessons stuck w me.

in my global history of dress class we just did an activity where we tried to wear both the great kilt and the sari (also roman chitons and a toga) and it was so interesting to learn how while the pieces of fabric are similar, how differently each culture can use them
