Never in the history of ever did I think I’d have a professional headshot in a Chef’s jacket. I didn’t go to culinary school. I grew up watching Jacques & Julia, Emeril Lagasse and PBS cooking shows with my Dad. He taught me how to love on others through food and I’m not sure if he knew all those days spent in the kitchen together would pave my career path. I started working in restaurants as a kid. Washing dishes for my Uncle Mark during his Sunday brunch rushes, bussing tables on Saturday nights at my mom’s job and ultimately working my way to the top from the bottom up. Before I was injured, I dedicated almost two decades of my life to the industry. From dishwasher to Managing Owner, I worked every position of a business right alongside my team and we pulled ourselves out of the weeds together, at work and in real life. When I lost my mobility, my dreams of ever owning my own place went up in smoke. I gave up on myself. I became an alcoholic and I coped through many lonely nights and a ridiculous number of white claws…. But I took my power back. I put down the booze for good. I made a conscious choice to improve my health in every aspect. Mental, physical, spiritual and emotional. And all of that work has led me to this moment. Where I can stand proudly in a Chef’s jacket and know in my heart, I earned it. Because I didn’t just climb my way up in the industry, I did the exact same thing with my life and personal well being. If you can control a kitchen, you can control yourself. Make the changes to positively impact your life. Face the demons. HEAL. Because I promise you, those dreams you think are so far out of reach…… they’re just waiting for you to start chasing them! 🩷 #inspire
