@traumoto: What tourniquet questions do YOU have? Here at Traumoto, we strive to bring you the most current and accurate information possible. The information in this video follows current standards of practice. For tourniquet placement, we refer to the TCCC (Tactical Combat Casualty Care) guidelines. Although TCCC standards were originally designed for combat situations, their principles directly apply to motorcycle trauma. For example, TCCC teaches a “hasty” tourniquet placement when “under fire.” In motorcycle trauma, this can relate to situations where the roadway is unsafe or you need to move the rider quickly after initial placement. In those moments, you may not have time to measure exactly 2–3 inches above the wound, so you go “high and tight” instead to ensure bleeding control first. Can you put a tourniquet over clothing? Yes! In a hasty or unsafe environment, a tourniquet may be applied over clothing or riding gear if removing it would delay control of life-threatening bleeding. Once the scene is secure, the tourniquet can be reassessed and reapplied directly to the skin 2–3 inches above the wound if needed. ⚠️ Disclaimer: The information presented here is for educational purposes only and reflects current recognized standards of practice. Traumoto is not providing medical certification, legal guidance, or personal medical advice. Always follow local laws, training requirements, and protocols in your area regarding tourniquet use and prehospital care. ——————————————— #Traumoto #RideReady #Tourniquet #StopTheBleed #MotorcycleSafety

As someone who works in ems, me seeing this is awsome! We had a biker crash a few weeks ago and was severely injured and the bikers buddy actually had one of your kits and stopped his buddy’s bleeding and done first aid.

Also another important thing, once a tourniquet is put on, good or bad. Never, ever remove it unless you’re a medical professional. Even if you have to restart and go higher, leave the one and put a new one on. Taking off the old tourniquet can do more damage then good

Also a blue tourniquet is a training tourniquet and should not be used in a real scenario

1) never place a tourniquet anywhere besides as high and tight as possible for CatHem.

tourniquet cant be put on the forearm or calf because they are double bone and it might not stop the bleeding, could also cause more harm.

High and tight always. If you apply a tourniquet, crank it down, and it does not fully stop the bleeding you should not remove it. You should be using a second tourniquet. So avoid it all together and go high and tight for much better chances of stopping the bleed the first time.

I’ve heard 2-3 to 3-6 which is better? I’ve done two different first aid classes and have gotten both answers. A friend that was a coreman in the marines he said 4-6.

so I have a question since I believe it is a CAT 7 I have in a survival bag I made, once a tourniquet is applied and it gets blood on it does it automatically make that tourniquet a one use item or are they always one use?

I have a question. I’ve done this for a while when I did volunteer EMT work but well we were taught as to write in a 24 hour time clock pretty much from 1 to 24 hours on the time strap is this correct?

another good addition would be combat gauze, or other gauze that would have the same clotting effect
