@remyw.anders: Everyone's gaslighting us saying “Autism is over diagnosed.” They think that because I wasn’t diagnosed till 39 that I must be doing it for attention - faking it? Because they didn’t call me autistic when I was a kid? No… They called me annoying. They called me gullible. They called me rude. They called me a tool. They called me immature, shy, too much, awkward…a re—d. They bullied me, or told me to just try harder. We’ve always been here. They just called us something else. And now that we have a diagnosis, it reveals their behavior as what it truly was, and is - cruelty. That’s why they walk around shouting that we aren’t actually autistic - our diagnosis gives us credibility in the face of their ableism. They don’t like how it calls them out.

I’m female and I wasn’t diagnosed till 37. I just talked too much in school and I was impulsive. The adults then decided it could be disciplined out of me. My diagnosis was life changing. Turns out I’m actually AuDHD

I’m _still_ not diagnosed because nobody believes me. as a 55 yr old woman, I’ve given up trying. I _know_ I am. That’s enough (not really tho 😞)

genuine question - are autistic people generally more gullible? cause you mentioned that but I thought autistics were more likely to overthink a situation

I want people to bear in mind that even PTSD was treated like this all the way back in the 20s. Calling it cowardice, among a plethora of different names. It has always been like this.

My mom had my brothers tested for ADD or ADHD when little. Confirmed. She was a nurse and got mad snd said "Nothing was wrong with her children" That makes me sad because I, her eldest, diagnosed with AuADHD at 54.

My mom announced she got us all tested back in the early 90s when we were a kid so none of us could have it. This is after my sibling already got diagnosed as an adult and I probably need to. 1)the diagnostic criteria has changed 2)she wouldn't have gotten us tested if there weren't signs.

You’re one of the most emotionally intelligent creators on this platform. You’re able to explain WHY I’m feeling a certain way when I can’t find the words myself. Thank you a million times over

Exactly, they would rather refuse to believe that somebody is disabled rather than believe they pick on disabled people to make themselves feel better
