@skybrodersen: This is a vulnerable video of me in the newborn trenches. I was bursting with joy… and still, I felt so alone. I didn’t have postpartum depression, but I know so many women who do - and I understand why. Because even without the diagnosis, the transition into motherhood can shake every part of you. Within 48 hours after birth, estrogen and progesterone levels can drop over 100-fold …and yes, that hormonal crash can trigger mood changes. But if it’s just hormones… why are postpartum depression rates still rising…even in one of the most medically advanced countries in the world? Maybe it’s not just biology. Maybe it’s a mother running on two hours of sleep, trying to heal while caring for a newborn. A partner who’s trying but wasn’t taught how to help. A culture that praises “bouncing back” more than resting and being held. Maybe moms aren’t broken. Maybe the system is. 💗 To every mom feeling joy and loneliness at the same time -you’re not alone, and you’re not failing.
