10 years earlier that house was £6,000. That's inflation. That's life!

1985 cheaper but unaffordable to many working people. We lived in damp unheated homes, dependent on hire purchase or doorstep lenders. Ad is glamorising the 80s

Bought my first flat in 1994 when inwas 21.....cost me 16 grand!! ex-council, bottom floor in a block of 4. 2 big bedrooms, large kitchen, decent sized bathroom, large living room. Seperate front and back gardens. All on a wage of 140 quid a week. The wife made 80 quid a week. on that we paid bills, bought food, paid the mortgage, owned a car, abroad every summer, out every weekend....no loans, no credit card, only debt was the mortgage. All on a combined basic weekly income of 220 quid. The price of property skyrocketed soon after...sold the flat ten years later for 80 grand....Mental. Good luck to the youngsters trying to get on to the property ladder nowadays.🙏❤

That estate agent was bang on. Very convincing for the very early 80s.
