You are NOT an asshole. You are a mom who wants what’s best for her kids. You all have experienced loss & change & are figuring it out. It might take him more than 2wks. I’ve struggled to adjust to new situations & expectations for longer than 2wks. Give yourself (and him) some extra grace. I’ve found that I have never regretted prioritizing my relationship with my kids above following procedures/rules. He’s in 3rd grade. You’ve both got lots of time to figure your way through this. Enjoy your vacation!! ❤

I think it’s great that you asked, got the different perspective and took another look. Maybe you wouldn’t have figured out the dog grief if you didn’t ask. You are not an Asshole, you a mom that doesn’t know everything. All parents have been there. Good for you for seeking.
