:Sadly all those life lost in vain. The irony is that today, the United States and Vietnam are trusted partners with diplomatic relations. You see! North Vietnam was not our enemy until we made them our enemy. They neither threatened our freedom, wish us ill or wanted to fight us. Their purpose to unify North and South into one Vietnam, than to imposed a Communist idealogy. After the war and after all the blood and treasure $1 trillion and over 58,000 of our brave men and women and 3.1 million Vietnamese lost, those in the high echelons of goverment the so called the "best and the brightest " who got us into the war, got to continue living a long life and of course the defence contractors got their record profits. I am sad and angry and i want you to join me in being sad and angry. Anyone interested in learning about the war, I recommend the book "A Bright Shining Lie John Paul Van snd America in Vietnam", by Neil Sheehan.
