My girlfriend works as a social worker, she helps take care of the people who use EBT. I come from a very poor family of 2 other siblings and a single disabled father. A lot of these people don’t work cause of “depression” or “anxiety” it’s mostly out of pure laziness. My family barely got any food stamps, had to suffer at the end of the month when we had nothing. I’m a college grad now, working in my field in a job that my parents couldn’t have ever gotten. I’m still struggling to feed myself and get by but I’m only 24 and pushing forward. There is always a way to climb higher if you never give up. I’m tired of climbing my way up from nothing only for others to sit behind and expect me to pay for them as well. As someone who grew up on food stamps it’s abused mainly by women of color who are single mothers, this is actually incentivized by the system. It is also abused by the mentally unwell who don’t do anything. I can’t support these people cause I can barley support myself. Get rid of EBT and allow for people to strive to be better
