As I’m getting older I’m having a harder time faking my good mood. Hairstyling has ruined my social connections with friends and family because I’m too mentally exhausted to socialize when I get home and if I have had something bad happen I have to fake it all day so then when I get home it all pours out to my family. It sucks

I’ve cried with my stylist over my shit and the stuff going on in her life. That chair is a sacred safe space for us and it should be for you guys too 💗

There is a direct correlation between the hair industry and mental health struggles, like statistically hair dressers are depressed…it is ruining you if you let it, protect your mind queen u deserve it

It definitely numbs us to the core, I think everyone should have a therapist. 😂

Yes! It is! It’s emotionally draining. But on the other end it’s so nice if our clients having a bad day that we get to make their day better by doing their hair 😏

No literally I feel the same way. I wouldn’t usually let on that anything is wrong. Unless it was a client I was tight with. Then I would slowly crumble. lol

I lost my husband, so even tho I hate “turning it off” it gives me a small break from my pain while I’m working, unless someone asks me too many questions then it gets really hard

I’ll never forget going through a separation and having just the most devastating day of my life and I asked to move a client and he never came back to me after that. I felt so much guilt! 😅

Not a hairstylist but I am a waxer. Those days where I don’t want to talk to anyone at all but then I remember at the end of the day they come to me to feel good & usually I end up getting out of that funk after a good venting session

Was just talking about this with a bestie client, she was like omg, you can’t just be kind, say hello and then isolate and do your job in your cubicle for the day😭😭 and I was like noooope and then we had a tiny cry together. It literally is so hard.
