I’ve literally never let the dmv know I have insurance???? I just get it and keep the card in my car in case I get pulled over??? And I’ve never got a ticket or notification??? Is this a state by state thing lol??

DMV sends out a notice of pending suspension and you can just show them your new card… they give you like 60 days notice so you just didn’t open the mail

Many don’t know this but you have to specify you want them to! Most insurers in nj won’t communicate to the mvc unless you request it

insurance won’t communicate with the dmv unless it’s to notify them that you DONT have insurance. I’ve dealt with this multiple times. It’s technically your responsibility to notify the dmv that you have insurance.

some insurance did this to my mom and you can get it dropped as long as you have proof you paid for insurance wether they reported you had it or not. I've been using progressive for 2-3 years and JUST filed a claim, it's been fine for me 😅

They usually sent a letter giving you a due date to show proof of insurance and if you fail to go they’ll suspended your license and ask for your insurance and $100 to get it back.

Insurance agent here .. was the address on your license correct? The notice is sent by the dmv, not the insurer. This is somewhat common, sometimes the sistem doesn’t update. Can happen to first timers, people with lapse on coverage, etc.
