Fun facts! sunfishes aren't useless! Read this if you must, cuz I'm here to tell you that they're not useless at all! (I'm a marine life nerd I'm gonna use this opportunity to tell u abt sunfishes). Sunfish or molamola plays a vital role in the marine ecosystem, yeah they may look weird, but did you know they look like that because their backfin simply doesn't grow? So when they mature their backfin folds into itself creating a rounded rudder called a clavus! giving them their iconic bullet like shape! As I've said they play a vital role in the marine world, here's why! they consume large amounts of jellyfish, helping balance the marine food webs, they also redistribute nutrients across ocean layers. Sunfishes are often criticized because they're apparently "clumsy swimmers" or parasite reliance, but those traits are actually the reflection of their evolutionary adaptation, those are not flaws. Their ecological distributions are significant :)) sunfishes are very cool, some people may not notice it, but that's how life goes. (Not so fun fact. Their population is already considered vulnerable.)
