This doesn’t work. How does the light bend? And why doesn’t the sun move faster through the sky in real life if it has a shorter path in this model.

Assume this is true. Do people at different latitudes see different phases as this model predicts? NO! Workable models explain or describe phenomena well and make accurate predictions. This FE model (and all others) are not workable.
