and the new builds of high rise apartments get funding and approval by saying we are building affordable housing and taking down forest and green spaces to do it. at a local meeting I asked how many affordable apartments are you offering and the answer our of over a 100 apartments was like 5...such BS

what would you propose as an answer then? If the value of homes plummeted into the affordable category, it means there was a huge catastrophe that caused it. The cost to build a home isn't going down, and home prices are steady with inflation. The only actual solution is for wages to increase.
