Egg Custard Pie,YES! Because you can take the girl out of the South, but you can’t take the South out of the girl. Wherever I go, I’m going to keep my Southern roots alive and with that, let’s make this pie. Here’s how I made it:⬇️ Ingredients: • 1 (9-inch) deep-dish pie crust • 4 large eggs • 1 cup sugar • 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour (mix this with the sugar) • 1 cup whole milk • ½ cup evaporated milk • 2 tablespoons salted butter • 1–1½ teaspoons vanilla extract • Ground nutmeg Step 1: In a small saucepan, warm your milk, evaporated milk, and melted butter over medium-low heat. Warm just until the butter melts. Do not let it boil. Step 2: Prick and parbake your deep-dish crust on 350°F for 8–10 minutes, just until lightly set. Step 3: In a large bowl, whisk the eggs. In a separate small bowl, combine the sugar and flour, then whisk that into the eggs until smooth. Add vanilla and a light sprinkle of nutmeg, whisking until pale and well combined. Step 4: Slowly pour the warm milk mixture into the egg mixture while whisking constantly to temper it. Whisk until everything is smooth and fully combined. Step 5: Pour the custard into your par-baked crust, sprinkle nutmeg evenly across the top, and bake on 350°F for 45–55 minutes, or until the center has a gentle jiggle. *Each oven varies. Step 6: Cool completely before slicing. The pie will continue to firm up as it cools. *I like to refrigerate mine for a few hours before serving. Dust lightly with powdered sugar, slice, serve and enjoy! #EggCustard #Pie #creatorsearchinsights #southern #comfortfood
