#pov Held Through Chaos — part 7
#pov Held Through Chaos — part 7 "I don’t know," I said softly, avoiding his gaze. My hands tightened around the warm cup, using it as an excuse not to meet his eyes. "I don’t know?" he repeated, leaning a little closer, as if trying to read what was going on inside me. "Ikaw kaya tanungin ko," I said, forcing a small laugh. "We both know you were the campus crush back in our batch, diba?" He chuckled — that familiar, quiet kind of laugh that never failed to make my heart skip. "Hmmm," he said, eyes drifting to the sky. "I liked someone before. I admired her." His words caught me off guard. "Sino?" I asked, brows furrowing. He smirked. "Secret." I rolled my eyes, pretending not to care. "Ewan ko sa’yo," I muttered, taking a sip from my coffee, trying to hide the faint smile tugging at my lips. "You want to go somewhere else?" he asked suddenly. "A best spot." "Saan?" I asked, curiosity lacing my voice. "Basta. Trust me," he said, flashing that small, confident smile. Minutes later, we were there — his “perfect spot.” The moon was glowing above us, silver light spilling across the hood of his car. The air was calm, the night alive with quiet whispers of wind and stars. We sat at the front of his car, and for the first time in a long time… I spoke. "I was just thirteen when I found out my father was cheating," I began, my voice barely a whisper. His smile faded. He stayed silent, listening — really listening. "It broke me when I found out who the woman was," I said, my throat tightening. "Bea’s mom. All this time, since I was one year old, my dad had been cheating on my mom. And the worst part? He got her pregnant. That baby… was Bea. My best friend. My sister. The person I thought I knew." My tears started to fall, one after another. "After that, I had to grow up. I learned to carry the weight of everything. I took on responsibilities that were never supposed to be mine," I said, my voice shaking. "And when Bea found out I was her half-sister, everything changed. She treated me like trash. As if our friendship meant nothing. As if I meant nothing." I tried to wipe my tears, but they wouldn’t stop. This — this was the first time I’d ever told anyone everything. The pain, the betrayal, the loneliness. Then, without saying a word, he pulled me into his arms. His embrace was warm, strong, and safe — something I didn’t know I needed until that moment. I cried in his chest, my body trembling with every sob. And for the first time, I realized… not all men are like my father. — Hours passed before he finally drove me home. The car ride was quiet — comfortable. It was as if words were no longer needed. "Alright, we’re here," he said softly as he parked in front of our gate. "Thank you, J," I said, giving him a small, grateful smile. "My pleasure, Y/n," he replied, his voice gentle. "I’m sorry about kanina," I said, embarrassed. "Ang pangit ko siguro umiyak." He chuckled softly. "No. It’s okay. You don’t need to apologize." He paused, his tone growing serious. "I’m always here, ha? You don’t have to carry all those burdens alone anymore. You have me." My chest ached in a way that wasn’t painful — just… warm. "And about that question earlier," he said, looking at me. "What question?" I asked softly. "The one about the girl I liked." I turned to him, waiting. "It’s you," he said without hesitation. I froze. Me? He reached for my hand, his touch gentle, reassuring. "Until now," he continued, eyes never leaving mine. "When Mom told me may magtututor kay Meimei and it was you — I was shocked. I thought I’d moved on. But then I saw you again. And I realized, I never really did." My heart was pounding. "I remember back in high school," he said, smiling faintly. "You hated boys. I never knew why. But now I do." He looked deep into my eyes. "And I’m willing to change that. To show you that not all men are the same." His voice softened — sincere, raw, real. "I like you. Mahal kita," he said, eyes full of love. And for the first time in years… I believed him. #fyp
