@christiana.drewc: Scapula winging is incredibly common especially in people with hypermobility spectrum disorder & ehlers-danlos syndrome. I never understood why my shoulders were so rounded when I was always so focused on good posture until I was diagnosed with hypermobility and learned about scapular winging. For me, it started as vague shoulder and neck pain that I ignored. I knew there was some compressed nerves but then I realized one side of my back looked different when I lifted my arm. The muscles meant to stabilize my scapula just weren’t keeping up with my hypermobile joints and lax connective tissue. Lately, I’ve started using KT tape on my shoulders to help with proprioception and awareness of my shoulder position. I’m also beginning to focused workouts to strengthen my serratus anterior and mainly diaphragmatic breathing to help my thorax expand so it can function properly. I’m hoping it helps me rebuild some control and stability. #scapulawinging #wingedscapula #kttape #heds #hypermobility
