Day 2, Week 8 of 18-Week Marathon Training Another double threshold day in the books, and honestly, this one felt different in the best way. AM Session 10’ WU 3 x 9’ @ LT1 (Marathon Pace) w/ 2’ RI 2 x 6’ @ LT2 (Half Marathon Pace) w/ 2’ RI 10’ CD Distance: 12.22 km PM Session 10’ WU 6 x 4’ @ LT2 (Half Marathon Pace) 20’ CD (extended cooldown just because it felt so good to keep moving) Distance: 10.48 km Both sessions today felt controlled, smooth, and most importantly— sustainable. I think we’ve finally found that sweet spot with pacing and effort for these double threshold workouts. No rushing, no blowing up, just steady work dialed in. And the recovery? Night and day compared to last week. After the second session, I didn’t feel wrecked or like I was dragging myself home. Instead, I wrapped it up feeling like I still had something in the tank. Even sleep was better. Last week, I felt like I was too tired to sleep properly—light, broken rest where even the smallest sound woke me up. But last night? Slept like a baby. Woke up refreshed, ready to take on the next one. These sessions remind me why marathon training is such a grind but also so rewarding. It’s never easy — the struggle is always there. But that’s kind of the point, isn’t it? It’s about staying disciplined, trusting the process, and showing up for yourself over and over again. Every week, every workout, a little bit stronger, a little bit sharper. The work is getting done. The marathon is getting closer. Almost halfway through, and the fitness is building right where it needs to. Work is done. On to the next! #trainingday #run #intervaltraining #doublethreshold #marathontraining
