I want to share the story about this video. I have a long-distance boyfriend from China. Last June 13, I woke up excited and messaged him to wish him a Happy Anniversary. However, I didn’t receive a reply. I thought at first he might be ignoring me, but I knew he wouldn’t do that. I kept waiting, hoping for a surprise, but as our anniversary passed, I heard nothing from him. I reached out to his mom to check on him, and she told me his phone was broken, and he was waiting for a new one. I checked Douyin and saw his account was active. I sent a message and got a reply, but it was from his dormmate. He told me my boyfriend had been rushed to the hospital and was in a coma. At first, I couldn’t believe it until he sent proof, and then my heart broke. My boyfriend is in the hospital. When I found out, I kept sending him messages to keep him updated and to help ease my pain. It hurt a lot because he got hospitalized exactly on our anniversary. We should have celebrated that day, but instead, it became our worst nightmare. I continued sending him messages to at least stay connected. Days turned into weeks, and weeks turned into months. Two months without hearing from him was hard. I didn’t know when he would reply. But I also needed to stay strong for him because I knew he was fighting for me too.
