@dailymail: The 29-year-old man accused of sparking one of the most destructive fires in Los Angeles history pleaded not guilty to federal charges. Jonathan Rinderknecht appeared in federal court Thursday afternoon after being accused of intentionally starting the deadly Palisades fire. According to court documents, authorities traced the Palisades Fire back to the smaller Lachman Fire, which Rinderknecht is accused of igniting just after midnight on January 1. Rinderknecht's attorney believes he shouldn't be penalized for the Palisades Fire when he allegedly started the smaller one beforehand. The accused can be seen in police bodycam footage obtained by Daily Mail arguing over a speeding ticket and nervously explaining away a stash of pills found in his car just weeks before the fire.
