As a close follower of Hank and John Green I feel deeply they are flawed human beings like all of us, but they have a deep understanding of the privilege they have and a real ernest desire to do as much good as they can with it. The apology video tracks with my image of them.

There’s a difference between hate and criticism and it’s hard for people to really differentiate or hold multiplicity. I’m glad he’s taking accountability in these ways I hope he keeps up with it and follows his words with his actions.

as a follower of scishow for a long time. Hank has always minimized black voices and women. him owning up is admitting its nazi propaganda AND ALSO saying how he fed into it. anything less is just an engagement video

He still said the ceasefire as if it hadn’t been violated so many times already and he only clarified it when someone mentioned it. I just want people to recognize he’s a white man. He’s educated, he does good for charities, he’s helped break down science for lots of students, but he is NOT infallible. And a nuanced take from a white man will never be equivalent to a BIPOC’s lived experience. Don’t idolize people. There’s no such thing as “he didn’t mean it” or “he wouldn’t do that” because as the audience, YOU don’t know him. Don’t fight for people without all the facts.
