“Keep the spark alive” is THROWN around all the time, but rarely do I see the HOW part. After years together (with kids, work, and a schedule that should’ve KILLED romance by now) This is what actually works for us: (after LOTS of trial and error 😂) 1.We live next door to each other. Two houses, side by side. By default, we have built-in alone time, and ZERO resentment about needing or requesting space (didn’t start that way!) especially since I work from home and our oldest is in virtual school. Having dedicated separate spaces is friggin lovely. 2.We have two kid-free nights every week. Room for spontaneous dates, snuggles and LOUD spicy time, laying around butt naked getting REAL rest, and no guilt because good sitters, amazing family and community MATTER. *sidenote: if you’ve gotten this far, relationships are clearly important to you. Give a follow and join the Patreon to get more of our mistakes and messes as we share what we learn in therapy 🖤 3.We run this relationship like an empire. - Our weekly Ritual Check-In: a safe space to say what’s been building up in the week (frustrations, desires, everything in between.) Our exact framework is in the bio 🥰 - The Boring Meeting: routine but powerful. We go over schedules and mental load of every person in the house so no one burns out or is taking on mountains of invisible work - The Creative Sesh: we DREAM together. hobbies, ideas, plans that keep us curious about each other and our individual worlds. Ima reader and bubba is a gamer and this is where we “catch up” on what the other person is doing Now this is just what works for US and it’s our current iteration for the people that we are right now it is BOUND to change, but we’ve learned that it’s not the busyness of life that gets in the way, it’s the lack of intention so we decided to be more intentional about it 🖤
