I needed a new tire while on a road trip. A tech brought me what he claimed were my cabin filter and air filter to show me how badly they needed to be replaced. The filters were filthy and full of dead bugs and bits of leaves. The look on the guy's face was priceless when I asked how it was possible the filters managed to get so dirty and change sizes in the week since I changed them. Made me grateful my dad taught me how to work on cars and avoid being ripped off.

I am always nervous if they actually switch out the oil filters sometimes.

Awhile back. I do Autoglass for a living. Well its a fleet van we had to take it to Jiffy Lube for an oil change. I was sitting in the waiting area and one of the employees came up to me and said that I need a new windshield (and yes I know kinda funny a windshield van with a broken windshield. I just didnt have time cause we had a hail storm a day before and I was working 13 to 14 hours a day) So the guy gave me a quote for the replacement. I said to him as he told me the price did you see what its says on the side of the van. He reads it looks at me and said nevermind. lol

And when they don't need an item or service we don't recommend them. I'm not selling ANYTHING in my shop that the customer doesn't need

I have never done a power steering flush on any vehicle. I've owned my 2003 Chevy 2500 265,000 miles. The power steering pump has never been flushed other than when I've changed the hoses.

Here in Northern Wisconsin I had places tell me it’s up to me if I want this service, but you can probably go another x miles if you want to do it next time. Trying to save me money. In my small town at least, word will get around fast if u screw over your clients.

For some, it's not about serving, it's about how much your time is worth, do they have an hour to spend, and is it worth losing?

I managed a Goodyear tire and a Jiffy Lube….every flush, every filter and wiper blades are all incentivized by upper management and tied to your bonus !!

a quick oil place told my sister who had a 2010 Ford Ranger that it needed special 4wd oil instead of regular oil. She paid over $100 for a oil change back in 2012

I worked for a shop that the owner of the shop told me to recommend all the fluid flushes on a brand new vehicle with 3000 miles on it and was there for just a oil change. I told the owner no I will not recommend it and if the owner wants to sell it then he needs to put his name on the ro cause I won't recommend it. the owner never recommend it

I went to a shop that had “Honest” in their name to change my oil; never ever had a leak. Two days after they changed the oil, there was a puddle in my driveway. I took it back and they said I needed all this other work now costing over $2k. Got a second opinion at another service provider, there was NOTHING WRONG with my truck. They just tightened the cap on the oil thingy and all is fine now. I left the HONEST company a glowing review on Google 🤦♀

I always look at my receipts on everything. If someone doesn't look at the service provided and gets scammed, thats on them. I would love to be a salesman and meet them.. lol

I’m shocked 😳 you have known this man since 7 yrs old & golf with his 18 yr old daughter. That they never went to your business to start with. I’d trust you & your son vs a quick oil change done by a stranger who only cares about making money with no heart ❤️😳😫

if I ever go to a quick lane oil change, either out of laziness or otr, i always do my due diligence and check the reviews, what oil and additives they use. and I'll bring my own filter and crush washer.

Can we not bash ALL quick lube shops? I understand there are definitely some bad eggs among the ranks but shops like the one I manage is straight up! We report every service to Carfax, we always check our previous services with every car and we don't pressure sales! Are we perfect? No. but who is? We preform quality services at fair price and we care for our customers! I love you guys I really do but it definitely hurts my heart that you bunch us all in the same category!
